Context:

Haldia PortA lot of migration also takes place within states. When India freed itself from British colonial rule in 1947, the former colony was divided into the independent states of India and Pakistan. "For more than ten million people on both sides of the new border, this was tantamount to resettlement, flight and expulsion" (Federal Agency for Civic Education (2014): The Partition of British India 1947). Other forced migrations take place because of so-called development projects. The quote comes from the Kolkatta area of West Bengal, where many people were dispossessed for the construction of the dock and harbour complex. Many have been waiting for compensation for decades.
